Great beach towns between Porto & Lisbon?

Hi, we are currently in Portugal, staying in Porto for a few days and decided to cut short our stay here to spend more time in a beach town along the coast. We visited Nazarre on the way to Porto but found it too crowded and touristy. I much preferred quieter Sitio. Any other suggested beach towns on the way back to Lisbon? We loved Sintra too but not a beach town and we were thinking of someplace mid-way. Sadly Rick Steves book doesn't cover many of the smaller towns, which we found to be quieter gems!

We spent a week in Sao Martinho do Porto in late May and really enjoyed it. It was quiet when we were there and much smaller than Nazare. There were a number of nice restaurants and days trips were easy to visit Batalha and Alcobaca. There are a large number of vacation rentals but I don't know if we saw any big hotels. It's known as a family area because the water is very calm in the bay. I would go back.
