good place for dinner in Evora

My wife and I will be in Evora on a Saturday night in May, and we're looking for a place for dinner that serves good local cuisine. We will be staying at the Pousada Convento de Evora, Loios, and one guidebook says the restaurant there shouldn't be missed, but there are many other interesting-sounding places. What would you recommend? And would you recommend making reservations for a Saturday night? Thanks for any suggestions.

If the weather's good, there's an on-the-plaza restaurant - probably more than one - where we enjoyed the sun setting beyond Evora's architecture plus the people-watching. Sorry, don't have the name, I was waaay behind in journal-keeping. But the wine was good!, the waiter & other diners friendly, the location excellent, & we really liked Evora. We were there on a Thurs. in June. For sure, go hear some soulful fado while you're in Portugal. But with one(?) night in Evora for dinner, I'd lean towards your Pousada. Maybe raise a glass in the plaza beforehand? Bon viajar!

On our trip to Portugal, we didn't stay at any Pousadas, but our one memorable Pousada experience was dining at the one in Evora - really worthwhile. We then headed back to our un-airconditioned hotel for a hot, almost sleepless night. Live it up, while you can!

Taberna Típica Quarta-feira. This was a highlight of our trip to Portugal! It's a tiny family run restaurant - and you won't see a menu. You get what they serve you, so not ideal for picky eaters or those with dietary restrictions. We had the best meal of our trip here. Many courses were served, including desert. Reservations are essential. Most highly recommended.
