We are leaving Chicago flying directly to Puerto in a few days. We will need to get ourselves and our carry-on luggage to our hotel in the Ribeira District . We will have wheeled carry-on size luggage.. I know we will be tired after a long day of travel. I’m wondering about using the metro or getting a taxi. We are young 70 year olds, but I do wonder if the Metro has many steps to lug our baggage up and down and if a taxi would be a better choice. .
I'm a bit younger and would still take a taxi--overnight travel wrecks me.
I would share the specific hotel in case that makes a difference, and also, ask the hotel--there are several shuttles available and they would know which one is preferable.
Here is the airport transportation page: https://www.portoairport.pt/en/opo/access-parking/getting-to-and-from-the-airport/public-transportation
We are staying at the Carris Hoteles Porto Ribeira. .I sent a message to them asking their recommendation , but have not gotten a reply.
That helps--if you plug it into Google Maps you can see how close you would get from a bus, and it looks like no matter which one you take, you end up with a walk at the end, and given that it's about an hour ride on transit, I'd use taxi for sure (less than 30 minutes).
I know how to use trains really well and don't have jet lag flying in from Frankfurt, but I still use a taxi when I get to Porto. It is just easier. After a flight from Chicago, I would certainly use a taxi. They are all waiting outside the exits at the airport.
Hi!
Do you have Uber app? It's really cheap, and confortable. To Carris Hotel, you don't have many choices, no bus, no metro.
So taxi (around 25 euros) or Uber (around 10 euros) are the best choices. (there is also Bolt, but I never used it)
(by the way, it's Porto, not Puerto)
