hello, a couple friends and I will be driving up to Porto from Lagos, and have a free night on our itinerary (we start in Lisbon). Reading some of the responses here, it looks like we should definitely stop in Coimbra, and go to Obidos for a few hours. A mountain town would be pretty amazing, especially since we are hikers, and will be nice to switch it up. Also, do you think we should stop in Nazare if we will have already been in the Algarve for four nights? Thank you for your information, it is greatly appreciated!
My husband and I just returned from two weeks in Portugal. We spent 2 nights in Coimbra and I think it's a good idea to stop there. The University is beautiful and worth all the stairs to get up there! We also spent two nights in Nazare and hoofed it up the hill to Sitio as the funicular was closed for maintenance. We could've gotten by w one night in Nazare--not a ton to do there but the views are beautiful.
thanks for your reply jodyrutl; I ended up booking a night in Coimbra, it seems like a really cool place. if you have any tips/advice you’d like to share, please do! 😎
