Four women looking for accommodation

We are visiting Lisbon, Sintra, Evora, (Nazare, Alcobaca, or Batalha), Coimbra, and Porto. Would prefer one accommodation for four. Will travel mid to late September. Any ideas of good places that are mid-range in price? Thanks!

Stay in the Pousadas, historic buildings converted to hotels by the govt. Similar to the Paradors in Spain. We always choose them.

Unless two of you are willing to sleep on a sofa bed, you will have a very difficult time finding rooms that sleep 4. They just aren’t common in Europe. If you look at apartments, be aware that a living room with a sofa bed is considered a “bedroom” so adjust your search accords. Booking.com is a good place to start, and also to give you an idea of what is a reasonable budget.

Check out the Blue Liberdade Hotel in Lisbon. We stayed there in November. The rooms are large and immaculate; staff is professional; breakfasts are tasty…. And there is always a cold bottle of bubbly available for guests in the lobby.

In Porto, check out M Maison Particuliere. It is lovely and very special. Slippers and a robe; candy on your pillow, nice. FYI: I fell on a slippery street and got pretty banged up. The staff was so accommodating and kind.

I’m not sure about your price points or the types of beds you prefer, but I highly recommend these two properties.

We had a two bedroom apartment - with four single beds - in Lisbon, which we shared with our daughter and her husband. Got it through VRBO. I've found that many vacation rentals in Portugal and Spain only provide single beds (twin beds) - two to a room. Explore the vacation rental sites, checking pictures and chatting with owners online. I'll bet your find what you're looking for.

Power one of the other contributors, don't fall for the sofa bed option. Look at two and three bedroom options.

Here’s a link to my trip report where I list all our accommodations during our visit to beautiful Portugal (May 2019)

Please beware that some information regarding prices and venues requiring tickets (some require timed entry now) may have changed since this trip was pre-pandemic.

Enjoy your time in beautiful Portugal!

We have not visited yet, but i suggest that you check out feelporto.com. They have 2 bedrooms and others in Porto. It is cheaper to book direct with them instead of through airbnb.

We have been dealing with Feel Porto by both email and website chat to finalize our booking and found them to be very courteous and professional.

Good luck with your planning.
