Hi! My friends and I are spending two weeks in Spain, and then flying from Santiago de Compostela to Lisbon via Madrid. We are US citizens. My understanding is we will need COVID tests to enter Portugal by air, even though we are coming from Spain. Still confused by how many hours before flights we need to take tests. We are all double-boosted. Thanks.

Mandatory to present:
- A valid vaccination EU Digital COVID Certificate (with a complete vaccination schedule or with a complete vaccination schedule and a vaccine booster)
- Or a valid test or recovery EU Digital COVID Certificate,
- Or a valid vaccination certificate (with a complete vaccination schedule or a vaccine booster) or recovery certificate issued by a third country, under reciprocal conditions
- Or a negative RT-PCR Test (or similar NAAT test) - 72h before boarding, or
- Or a negative Laboratorial Rapid Antigen Test- 24h before boarding (according to the European Commission list)
My addition - if you read on the site further you’ll find that US citizens do not carry an accepted Covid Certificate (CDC card is not accepted) for entry by plane so you will need one of the last 2 listed above (PCR or Lab Antigen) tests
