First Time Portugal Itinerary- 6 days - December

Dear Forum members,

Am seeking help on planning a 6 day itinerary to Portugal in the last week of December including new year. We will arrive and depart from Lisbon. 6 days includes the day of arrival.
We have a 4 yr old with us. We love exploring culture, history, local food etc.

Request your kind help in helping planning my itinerary.

Thanks...

We just spent four nights in Lisbon including a day trip to Sintra and it wasn’t enough. I would probably spend all six days in Lisbon with a child who will slow you down.

Alternatively, you could spend two nights in Sintra and four in Lisbon.

Stay in Lisbon. You really don’t have time to split up the trip. From Lisbon you can easily day trip to Sintra and Evora. You will have plenty to fill your time. BTW - a lot of things will be closed New Year’s Day so plan accordingly. Restaurants should be open, though.

Back in August we spent 5 nights in Lisbon and had a great trip. Our hotel was in Belém and even though it was about 20 minutes by tram into central Lisbon (we went every day except one) we felt we made the right lodging choice because the area was more upscale than the heart of the city with a beautiful waterfront and wonderful attractions nearby. The day we didn't go into the center we went to Sintra and then Cascais (highly recommend both). Another afternoon we took the ferry over to visit the Cristo Rei area across the river (great view). Regardless of where you stay or what your itinerary is you'll enjoy Portugal!
