We are planning to spend about one week starting in Porto then going to Duoro Valley on to Belmonte before several days in Lisbon. I realize the fires may be contained but are the vineyards and landscapes sufficiently intact to support tourism? From southern CA and know how devastating wild fires can be - structurally, emotionally , etc. Thus looking for guidance on whether to change itinerary. Thank you.
From what I can glean by reading news of the fires, the Douro was not as affected as the Dão region further west. If you have hotel or quinta reservations, I would check with them. There were fires in the Douro and further east toward Belmonte, but it’s a very large area.
No idea when your trip is, but no fires in that that right now. Just remain flexible with your itinerary; especially your route if you’re driving.
