Visited Lisbon this past October, staying in the Chiado-Barrio Alto area. We found an amazing restaurant 5 minutes from our hotel, Oficio :https://www.oficiolisboa.pt/. It is a modern play on Portuguese with an impressive and affordable wine list. One of the most inventive was an heirloom tomato salad with fresh herbs and a basil granita. It was cool and refreshing. Another stand-out dish was wild mushroomss, egg white garum, fermented honey, and sorrel. They have such a great selection of vegetarian in addition to fish and meat dishes. If this restaurant was in my hometown, I would be a regular.

For Fado with gourmet food, I would recommend Segredo: https://www.osegredodalfama.com/en. This restaurant is in the Alfama and has two different styles of Fado performances (the traditional one from Lisbon sung by a woman and the Coimbra style sung by a man). The performers are excellent, especially the woman. The stand-out here in this family run restaurant is the food. The cod fish was amazing (and my husband does not like cod, this made him a convert). It was buttery, light served with spinach and an aligot of parmesan cheese. The standout for me was the pork cheeks.

Linda, dinner was very good, thank you. And they were full, so it's a good thing we had a reservation. My husband has the grilled octopus. My son and I had paella. The only bust was the vegetable soup. It was very salty. Thanks for the recommendation!
