Fatima in August

We will be in Lisbon towards the end of August. We plan on a day trip to Fatima. My understanding is the bus is the most economical way to go.

A few questions -
Do we need entry tickets ?
Do they have Sunday mass ?
Are there any reasons to spend the extra $'s and take a paid tour?

All comments and suggestions are warmly welcome

Hi Bill,

There are no entry tickets for the Basilica. There are masses celebrated every day at different times. A paid tour is only good if visiting other villages or sites such as Nazare, Batalha, and Alcobaça.

Expect it to be HOT! Bring a good hat or sun umbrella and sunscreen. If you can stay overnight, the nightly procession is very beautiful. A good restaurant close by is Lebre Churrasqueira, an inexpensive cafeteria style sit down restaurant. A great hotel is Hotel Aleluia next door and a minute from the Sanctuary.

Thanks for the information. Northwest - Have you taken the train? Is the Fatima station close or do we need to take a taxi
