hello all ... spending 10 days in portugal next spring and find ourselves with an extra day after pairing down cascais to 2 days ... would you tack it on to lisbon or porto?

That will depend on your interests and how many days you have planned for those two cities already. We just got back from Portugal and spent 5 days in Lisbon which included two daytrips, and 3 days in Porto. The overwhelming consensus in our group of 4 was that we enjoyed Porto more, but 3 days was plenty.
