Trying to research flight for our timing in Feburary. Air Transat flights direct to Faro are limited, and so are their club class seats. Their regular seats are squishy still, no? I think I have developed some claustrophobia since Covid. Other option would be to fly into Lisbon and take a transfer. Or to flight into Frankfurt and connect to Faro which seems odd. any advice?
where are you starting from?
Another option is to take the train from Lisbon to Faro, it's about 3 hours, not the most desirable after a transatlantic flight.
Flying into Faro would save time and aggravation.
Toronto…
Yes, dont wish to take the train.
If you don't wish to take the train, then you should try to book a flight from Toronto to Faro on a single ticket. If it routes you through Frankfurt, no big deal: Frankfurt to Faro can't take much longer than 2.5 hours, and Toronto to Frankfurt is not longer than to Lisbon.
Air Transat planes can be really tight in regular economy class, tighter than on non-leisure airlines.
This is helpful. So Lisbon and Frankfurt are the same distance? I know my geography but for some reason I figured it would be a bit out of the way. I say no to the train as it seems a bit of a drag and a little bit of a learning curve. Just checked Air Transat and there are no club seats left on any of their flights to Faro. Regular seats ..well, its a charter.
Frankfurt is just 30 min farther than Lisbon. It's further east for sure, but also further north, which compensates a bit.
There seems to be no Toronto Frankfurt Faro ticket without multiple stops. Confusing….think I need to work with an agent.
Are you flying into Lisbon and flying not of Lisbon (back home) and do you need a rental car during stay in the Algarve.
One option is to rent your car in Lisbon, drive down to the Algarve for your stay and then drive back and drop off the car in Lisbon when you leave. You have the convenience of door-to-door transfer. It is only about 2.5 hours to drive each way on easy to drive toll highways. And depending on the number of people in your party, it can work out cheaper than the trains. The winter rental rates at ZestCarRental.com have been very cheap.
