Expedia or Easy Jet Packages Portugal

Hi, there. I am from the US and building a fairly complicated itinerary. In the past, Expedia has saved me a lot of money by putting together a package. Has anyone compared Expedia with Easy Jet for packages in terms of cost?

Also, the itinerary includes many days for which I do not need hotels. For example, periods of work and periods when I'm using marriott points for free stays. Will those companies allow for periods of not using them for accommodations?

My final concern is that with Expedia, you have to pay for it all in advance, and fight them later if something goes wrong. If I do it independently, I would pay as I go and possibly leave if some place turns out to be a hell hole. Has anyone had to struggle with this potential problem?
Thanks!

You can often find cheaper prices by booking a package rather than separate items. There is also an advantage in doing so from a consumer protection point of view as well in the UK (I don’t know about other countries in Europe). Any package holiday, which is classed as flights and hotels booked together, is covered by ATOL which means you get your money back if the company goes bust and maybe a few other benefits. But that’s the big one given that a number of lot cost airlines and tour operators have gone bust in the last few years.

One good tip is to find out when EasyJet offer cheap flights to the destination you want then put those dates into the flights and hotel section on lastminute.com. You will often find prices for flights and hotel with discounts over booking the elements separately.
