Evora or Nazare

We are planning a 2 week trip to Portugal in October starting in Porto and ending in Lisbon. We will be spending 4 nights in Porto, 1 in Pinhao, 2 in Coimbra and finishing off the trip with 4 or 5 in Lisbon. We were thinking of fitting in either 1 or 2 nights in Evora or Nazare. Anyone have any experience in either of those places?

Also, we are doing this without a car so wondering if using buses and trains as transportation is reasonable?

Thanks for all your help.

Two completely different atmospheres. Nazaré is a typical beach town one finds up and down the east coast. If you don’t like beach towns, then head to Évora. Nazaré can be seen in a few hours. It’s been decades since I was in Évora.

I had a vehicle when I visited both, so can’t speak to the public transportation aspect.

Well I prefer Evora, however Nazare is probably more on your way. You could easily get from Coimbra to Nazare by public transit, and I think there is a bus direct on from there to Lisbon. Evora would probably be a much longer journey and I think for train at least would mean going to Lisbon and then on.
