We will be Portugal in early January, 6 days in Lisbon and 5 in Porto, and one night in Coimbra. I've heard Evora is interesting place to see Roman ruins, but is that also the case in January? Any other day trips from Lisbon to experience Roman/Moorish ruins? Also, any recommendations for a private guide for the Evora day trip. Thanks so much in advance for any and all suggestions.
Evora is still interesting in January. You don’t need a guide as it’s easy on the train. However, if you want to use a guide, send me a PM and I can give you a couple of names. They are both small businesses so don’t want to share with all.
If you will be in Coimbra, it’s very worthwhile to go out to Coninbriga. It’s a Roman settlement with some well preserved mosaic floors. You can likely Uber or taxi from Coimbra.
