I am a first time visitor to Portugal and will be arriving Holy Saturday, the day before Easter. I am wondering if everything will be closed those two days and if it makes more sense to go to Douro or Evora or the Algarve. Thanks!

In the Lisbon area not much will be closed. Especially on the Saturday. The only days the museums close are Christmas and New Year’s Day. Easter Sunday is a big day for eating out.
In Cascais, there is an Easter ‘Fair’ of sorts with lots of venders selling goods around town. There may also be the same type of thing in Lisbon.
Portugal does not do the same big ‘Semana Santa’ activities that happen in Spain.
