Early early ride to Porto airport

Does anyone have experience getting a taxi or ride to the Porto airport at 4am on a weekday? Trying to decide if we should stay at our hotel in town or check out and grab one near the airport that night. I hate to have to check out at 11am and have to deal with luggage the rest of the day, but I'm always nervous about taxi reliability that early.

Use google maps and use directions search to find cost, wait time and duration of a Bolt ride. I just did a current search which is Monday morning at 6am and there is only a one minute wait time and 15 minute ride from downtown Porto to the airport for less than €10. Wait until 6pm Calgary time and repeat the same search to find out the Bolt availability at about 3:00 or 4:00 a.m. Good luck.

Thanks Funpig. I know from experience at home, getting a cab or Uber at 4am is doable but not always reliable. Thankfully we can bribe our adult kids to take us and pick us up from the airport. The metro doesn't start running until 6am so that's not an option. We'll likely check out from our hotel the night before and stay near the airport.

Porto is a world class city destination.

Just asked the front desk of your Porto downtown hotel. I'm sure they will reassure you and even pre-arrange a taxi ride if you do not trust Bolt/Uber.

Hi, Allan: When we were in Porto last fall, the owner of our guest house arranged a private driver. We were picked up at the front door, and could pay either by cash or card, a €25 flat charge.

The drive to the airport took longer than I thought it would, but we arrived in plenty of time. We had already checked in for our flight and had no checked bags, so I let us sleep in a little later than I normally would have on a departure day. We were picked up at 4:50 for a 7:00 flight, and had plenty of time to find breakfast at the airport.

When is your trip? We loved Porto.

Thanks for the info Jane. Sept 21 we fly into Lisbon for a week, then a few days in Porto before we fly to Bordeaux at 6:30am on our way to the Dordogne region. We haven't booked a place in Porto yet but have our eyes on an apartment close to the river. The Portugal part of the trip will be with very close friends from Philadelphia who invited us to come with them. We adjusted our plans which was supposed to be more of France.

Unless you particularly want an apartment, which you may be since you're traveling with friends, may I suggest Na Travessa Suites?

We spent several days there, and had a wonderful time. The owner, Mariana, and her assistant Joana, go way beyond the simply necessary to assure your comfort and a pleasant stay. I just reread the WhatsApp thread between me and Mariana, and marveled at how she went out of her way to be helpful. Great location, as well, and a good breakfast.

Just a thought.

Have a wonderful trip; we loved Portugal, especially Porto.

Thanks for the tip Jane. I've checked them out and love the location, unfortunately there is no availability for our dates.
