Duoro valley hotel and tour ideas

Hello
I am planning a trip in the fall- has anyone stayed at hotel rural Quinta de pego or Quinta nova? Are these a good base to explore other wineries? Any recommendations for small group wine tours?
Thank you

We stayed at Quinta do Tedo and highly recommend. We had a lovely room with a pretty room, They have a pool and included with the price is a wonderful breakfast and a winery tour. We ate at their restaurant one night and it was excellent. It was very central to the quintas and other things we wanted to see.

From beginning to end, Daniel was a warm, thoughtful, detail minded, and professional guide. He planned an amazing Douro experience for us months in advance and communicated all the necessary information in a timely manner. Then, when the unexpected happened, (I broke my ankle at Gaztelugatxe outside Bilbao) was able to turn on a dime and revamp our itinerary. This is when we saw his true heart. What a beautiful human! His flexibility, quick thinking, and strong connections to the area came together and we still had an amazing day - sightseeing in his comfortable van, an intimate wine tasting at Gueda, a lovely lunch, and finally, the riverboat. Imagine the four strong crew members helping me aboard! Oh, the memories:)
