Duoro River wineries

We will be at Quinta do Tedo for a couple nights. A tour of that quinta is included. I'm planning activities and finding the RS guide, even the 2021 one, very out of date. We typically like wineries that are smaller and more casual. For the Duoro River, it looks like the views from some of the quintas are fabulous, so views are also a plus. Does anyone know if the RS recommended Quinta de Marrocos, closed or merged with another winery? I'm looking for some recommendations for quintas to tour/visit. We've learned, that we probably only need a formal visit or tour of 2-3 wineries. But, are there other ones that would be great for a stop to linger for a glass of port/wine with a view?

Google maps is showing Quinta de Marrocos as temporarily closed. Not sure if that’s referring to the hotel, winery, or both. There seem to be plenty of quintas in that area.

James, thanks! Yes, there are lots of quintas, but unlike what Rick Steves has said on his radio show and in the guide, they are pretty insistent on wanting tastings reserved, which is quite similar to most places in Europe. I like to get recommendations, especially when I have to book in advance. According to the RS guide, Quinta do Panascal, has self guided tours that I'm pretty interested in. I love the flexibility of it.

Take a look at Quinta de la Rosa in Pinhão. It’s lovely and offers tours and tastings and the views are wonderful. There are several others in and around Pinhão.

Just returned from Pinhao in early March and enjoyed the following beyond Quinta de la Rosa:
In Casal de Loivos above Pinhao which are smaller winery rather than port houses- consider getting taxi up from Pinhao and walk back down through Sandeman's Dow estate on public paths
- D'Origem - has both olive oil and wine tasting (white, rose and red) with great views down
- Quinta do Jalloto just down the road from D'Origem - and also great views across the valley

For a port tour and port tasting across the river bridge at Quinta das Carvalhas (larger Portugese hours) had the best tasting (on demand) and tours (book ahead) at much better price and quality than Sandeman Dow ( Quinta do Bonfim) and Qinta da Roeda (Crofts) tours - both expensive
