Duoro River, quintas (Quinta de Marrocos)

A popular quinta, Quinta de Marrocos, featured in the RS Portugal guide, is under new management and is closed for an indeterminate amount of time. I'd be helpful to see the Duoro chapter in the 2023 guidebook but that doesn't come out until 1/31.

In the meantime, I'm looking for a quinta where we could stay overnight. We are looking for something in the moderate range which perhaps serves dinner.

Jules, I found out about the new management for Quinta de Marrocos after emailing an inquiry for a room. So, instead, For my October trip I reserved a room at Quinta do Tedo in Regua. It looks lovely but I don’t have any experience yet. Here is a link.

Take a look at Quinta de la Rosa. It’s lovely and has a very nice restaurant. Though not cheap, it’s moderately priced for a Quinta.

I ended up booking Quinta do Teda. The view from the property looks impressive. I also plan on tasting at Quinta de la Rosa.

Jules, I’ll be getting your opinion about Quinta do Tedo when you return from your trip as I believe you are going in April (before I go in October) The photos on the website of the quinta look wonderful.

Linda, I will report back! There sure have a perfect spot and it looks like the Quinta is well situated to take in the views. I was a little disappointed that we didn’t get a room with a river view, but apparently what we got has a terrace. We got the last room available, so we are grateful we were able to get a room. Did you see a tour of the winery and tasting is included?
