Flying into Lisbon and staying 3 nights(include day trip to Sintra) would then pick up car and drive to Evora. From there, planning on driving back to coast to see Nazarre, obidos, Tomar and Coimbra. Would it make sense to base in Coimbra for a few days, or are one of the other towns better. We would then finish our trip in Porto, dropping our car off, doing the Douro Valley, and flying back to the states from there. We have 10 days actually in Portugal.
Thank you in advance.
Welcome to the Forum. I’m a bit unsure about how you are breaking down the trip. It seems to me that you are covering a lot of ground and travel for a pretty limited time. Count your time as nights instead of days.
Evora seems like an outlier in this itinerary. Is there something of particular interest for you in Evora? I liked Evora very much for seeing some megalithic sights and exploring some of the ancient Roman ruins but I devoted a lot more time there. Of course, I was relying on public transportation and tours, so required a bit more time getting around.
You will get more constructive help from us on the Forum if you would be a little clearer on how many nights you are devoting to each city/area. Maybe something like this:
Lisbon-3 nights (day trip Sintra)
Evora-2 nights
Drive up the coast-stop in Nazare and Obidos on the way to Coimbra
Coimbra-3 nights (day trip Conimbriga-Roman ruins)
Porto-2 or 3 nights (day trip Douro)
