I'm visiting Portugal for the first time in a few weeks and would like advice on driving.
My current plan is to pick up rental car after arriving at LIS from CDG (late evening around 10:30pm) and drive out to Evora. I'd like to know how easy/challenging it is to drive from Lisbon to Evora in the dark on highways. I will have an automatic shift rental car, a GPS and smart phone.

You will have no issues, especially using your GPS. The drive will be easy and the signage is very good for all the exits. Enjoy your trip!
Do you know where you are staying in Evora. My concern with your plan would be if you are staying inside the walls, as you would usually be parking outside and walking into Evora or else navigating narrow roads inside the town.
Lisa - I'm going to staying at a hotel inside the wall. The hotel does provide secure parking and charge extra for it.
We are taking the suggestions from this site and spending at least one night in Evora. Does anyone have a hotel they would recommend in the moderate range but not a Hostel.

What do you consider moderate? We stayed at Solar Monfalim, and a room was 60 euros, with breakfast. Nice location inside the walls, very quiet place.
