Hello! Would you kindly suggest a possible two-day stop back towards Lisbon airport? We will start from there and drive up the western coast, stopping in Sintra, Obidos, Porto, and Pinhao. We would prefer not to retrace that drive. Would outside of Viseu be worth a two-night stay at an upscalish farm/vineyard type place so we don't have to drive in a city? We would love to have visited Marvao but fear it's too far to get back to Lisbon for an early am flight. Open to all ideas? Thanks.
Coimbra might be worth a look. It’s a lovely town with a great Roman ruin city - Conimbriga - not far. I stayed two nights and thought it was about the right amount of time. The old town is pedestrian but driving in the rest of the town looks to be easy.
Thanks. We decided to pass on Combria and will take an alternative route by leaving Lisbon for Evora, then Marvao and up to Douro. We can then head to Porto, Óbidos, Sintra and Lisbon airport. It’s still a long ride from Marvao to Douro but seems more interesting for us.
