We will be in Lisbon for 4 days in Nay and then will go to Porto for another 3.
Well, we are doing a good part of this trip independently, rather than taking the train to Puerto, I think I would like to get a driver who can take us, and that way we can make stops along the way. I know there are plenty of drivers out there, but I would prefer recommendations. And, are these drivers insured and bonded etc.? How do I find that out and is that necessary?
Joyce, I don't have any suggestions for you, but, there is a facebook group, "Travel Portugal". It has been very helpful for me and there are quite a few guides that provide advice for travelers. There often are posts from people that have used a guide and then recommended the guide to the group. You could post exactly what you are looking for and I know you'll get responses and recommendations. You could also scroll through or search for posts. I know there have been people that posted the same plan you are.
Also, I know that the Rick Steves guides often have recommendations for guides/drivers.
We have made 2 trips to Portugal and have always requested private drivers from our hotel. We have never been disappointed. We're headed back for our 3rd trip in a few weeks. We plan on doing the same again.
