Planning to drive from Lisbon to Lagos. Was thinking of stopping in Sagres on the way. It looks like there is a highway along the coast. Is that a scenic route and worth the extra half hour or so it looks like versus the A2/E1 highway? Thanks!
If you are driving from Lisbon to Lagos, you would take the A2/E1 toll road unless you want to take all day on the N120. Therefore, Sagres will be out of your way. The N125 west of Lagos runs slightly inland, not along the coast and it’s not particularly scenic.
Sagres is a cold, windy spot even in the height of summer, so be sure to have some warm clothing handy.
Yes, it would be out of your way when driving from Lisbon to Lagos. But, once in Lagos, it’s a pretty quick trip over to Sagres. And, the road is good. But, as Jennifer wrote, it’s not particular scenic.
Thank you both!
