Douro Valley Wineries

We are planning a day trip to Douro Valley in just a few weeks. I'm overwhelmed by the number of wineries to choose from and also a bit concerned that we will need to book an organized wine tour, rather than just stopping in on a couple of wineries. It seems drop-ins are not welcomed at many wineries. Anyone have recommendations for wineries that are open to the public without reservations, that are also smaller/charming, less commercialized and of course with great wine and views? Thank you!

We spent 3 days in the valley

Sandeman, Dow, Croft ( beautiful) were all open to the public for drop in
These are not small, but avoid the touristy, overpriced, overcrowded feeling so maybe go anyway

Fonseca is small and had a 30 minute self guided tour. Kind of interesting, but too hot so we quit after 10 minutes and
I think Quinta do Vallado had tasting w/o tour
