We will be in Porto in June and are planning to make a day trip to Pinhao (by train) and taking a 1 or 2 hour river cruise from there. Does anyone have a recommendation on whether to do the 1 hour or the 2 hour cruise? Also, any recommendations regarding the two companies that are mentioned in the RS guidebook: Companhia Turistica do Douro or Magnifico Douro? Would it be less crowded on a Friday vs Saturday? Thanks in advance.

I’ve done the two hour with Magnífico a couple of times and thought it was about right. I don’t think there would be much difference in the two companies.

We did a 7 day Douro Valley River cruise and it was fantastic. I see Gate 1 has one similar to what we did for a great price.
I recommend going as far up the river valley as possible, it gets more scenic the farther up river you go.
