Douro Valley for 6 days in late September - suggestions? Thanks!

We will be 2 couples spending 6 nights in the Douro Valley (5 full days). We have a place booked close to Peso de Ragua, the Casa Relógio de Sol B&B. We're planning on having a 'vacation within the vacation', with a relaxed pace. We're looking to visit some wineries, check-out some viewpoints, maybe visit the Prehistoric rock carvings in the Vale do Côa, take a short boat trip on the Douro, etc.. We are especially hoping to participate in a wine treading experience.

I would very much appreciate any tips, suggestions and recommendations that would help me plan our time - re: activities, wineries, sights, restaurants, etc.. Thank you so much!

There are a number of good websites to help you. Wine Tourism Portugal has extensive information about all things pertaining to wine. Cavatino is another good website.
Regarding the wine treading. You might want to check with your bed and breakfast. They would know more about who offers that in the Douro. Be aware though - the Grape treading in the Lisbon region is more the first part of September. And, it’s very dependent on the weather this summer. Last year was so dry, the wine harvest was pretty much over by the first of September.. The good news is - this year has been very wet, so your chances of hitting the harvest are better!
