I am trying to find a company that does cruises down the Douro Valley that last two or three days, does it exist? If not, then a cruise that allows you to go one way and then get off for a couple days and either go back to Porto by boat or by train? So far all I can find is day trips or larger companies like Viking that do week long trips.
Thanks for any help!......
jones,
The larger river cruise firms such as Viking, Emerald and AMA Waterways have cruises on the Douro, but they last longer.
You might find something on this website - http://www.indouro.com/ or http://www.indouro.com/default.asp?id=113&mnu=113 .
You could also check with a travel agent.
Good luck!
We have done four river cruises and I always compare pricing and product.
Viking is a huge competition and some people just go with them. Don't do that.
Viking is not a bad company, it has an excellent product, but we never pick them, since they are never the best deal, price and product considered.
We went with Vantage, a US firm out of Boston. We have done three river cruises/tours with them and they are a quality firm.
AMA Waterways is another excellent firm, but their prices have been trending up and up.
Here is my review of our Douro River cruise and Portugal tour.
Portugal, the Douro River and a bit of Spain

I know there are day cruises, but not familiar with a two or three day cruise.
