Douro River Cruise Suggestion Please

Hi All,
Looking for a suggestion , aside from the one I see one offered on Viator for 2 hours, for a Douro river cruise. Specifically one that might include passing through the winery region if there is in fact one. Otherwise we can just book this tour for 2 hours. We can always cover a winery via land and take this cruisehttps://www.viator.com/tours/Porto/Private-Douro-River-Sailing-Cruise/d26879-65386P5 or another if someone has a better suggestion.I prefer flexibility when possible so would anyone know if something like this needs to be booked in advance? Thanks.

Our hotel booked a day cruise for us on Douro Azul which was nice. White tablecloth lunch. We were among few English speakers on board and they sat us together at lunch. The scenery is repetitive, terraced vineyards. I am glad we did it but won’t go on it again next time in Porto due to rather boring scenery.

We have booked the Porto -Régua-Porto (downstream) Cruise with Cruzeiros Douro for September 14. Seems to be departures everyday. Will be happy to report on our experience after we return.

Circling back with my feedback following our 1 day cruise from Regua to Porto with Cruzieros . I would NOT recommend this tour. 2.5 hr train ride from Sao Bento to Regua, followed by a short walk to the dock. When our group of about 30 people arrived at the dock there was a very full ship tied up. I figured we would be on the next ship. Nope - they crammed us on that one. I work for a large ferry company and believe it was oversold. The upper deck had no shade and about 1/3 as many seats as there were people. It was very hot that day. No where to sit, unless you went into the cabin dining room. Tables were very tight, and if you were sitting at your assigned table you could only see out the one window next to your table. That is until people pulled down the shades as it was very hot - then you couldn't see anything. No air conditioning - I thought I might pass out it was so hot. There was very limited commentary - in several languages - but it was next to impossible to see what they were referring to from inside the dining room. The lunch was quite good (roast pork, potatoes, rice and vegetables, bottle of wine for every 2) I found the scenery, what I did see, lovely, but very monotonous. Saving grace for us was being placed at a table with 3 very agreeable couples (England, Canada, Portugal). We enjoyed our conversation much more than anything we saw out the window. Returned to Porto at 5 pm. We considered this a bit of a wasted day, and wish we had done a 1 or 2 hr boat trip instead.

Hi Kathy,
Thank you for following up and sharing. We had the exact opposite experience. I booked Barcadouro tours for 9/11.Maybe because it was a Tuesday the boat was half full and we had plenty of space. I do agree that the day was a little long but it was a beautiful day weather wise. We too did the Sao Bento >Regua by train and then down river to Porto arriving just in time for a cocktail and a stroll in Gaia then the 6:30 Calem tour with Fado show.
