My wife and I will be in the Lisbon suburb of Belém on October 27th of this fall. We already have our reservations for the Monastery of Jerónimos at 9:30 AM, and hope to see other sights in Belém like the Maritime Museum, the Monument to the Discoveries, and perhaps the National Coach Museum, but we don't know how long we will be at the Monastery of Jerónimos, so we don't want to make timed entry reservations for the other sights. We're wondering what is the likelihood that we will be able to get tickets for the other sights on the day that we visit them, considering that it will be so late in the year.

The Monastery of Jerónimos is the only museum in Belem that should be reserved ahead. Tickets for other sites there can be purchased when you are there. If you plan on going to Sintra, I'd book the Pena Palace and Quinta da Regaleira as well.

We're planning a Belem day trip in early October as well. I was looking for tours that would include a long visit to the Monastery but haven't found any? We'll be coming from our hotel in the Braxia area so will need transportation. Is the Belem area fairly walkable?

We were there in early November last year and bought our tickets to the Monastery when we arrived. We only had to stand in line a few minutes.

One addition to Rich's answer, because it changed this year: the Belém Tower reopened on 27 May 2026 after a year of works and now runs on timed entry, 60 people per half hour and 900 a day, 15 euros for the standard ticket (Museus e Monumentos de Portugal). If you want to go inside rather than photograph it, book a slot the way you did for the Monastery; if the outside is enough, nothing to book. The Monastery cloister is 18 euros. 27 October is a Tuesday, so both are open; on Mondays both close. The Coach Museum and the Discoveries monument are walk-up.
