My son is getting Married in Sintra. We are travelling to Portugal and Spain and don't want to pack tux and gown, and carry with us around Portugal and Spain. Is there an economical way to ship from US to venue and return day after wedding ? I looked on line and didn't get any specifics. Has anyone else done this. We really don't want to pack formal wear on our multiple flights and trains.
What cities are you flying into and out of? How long is the trip, overall?
We used USPS Global Priority Mail for a wedding in Chile. My husbands suit and dress shoes fit in the large box. Once the box landed it was delivered by FedEx. It took a total of 3 days. Or check Portugal's Post system. You could contact the hotel in Sintra for help as well.

That obviously depends on your definition of "economical," but I doubt it, particularly since you want the formal wear to be in perfect shape (torn and stained won't cut it for the wedding).
If you don't get more specific answers here, look to the Destination Wedding sections of bridal message boards. I don't know of any specific ones, but they definitely exist.
1) We're flying to/from Lisbon (JFK-LIS). The wedding is in Sintra. However, we will be in Portugal and Spain for about 2 weeks. We don't really want to drag formal wear around for 2 weeks, crowding out our regular (1 luggage each) clothes and stuff. And, I don't want to do the "nuclear option," -- pay for 2nd or 3rd baggage. (Also taking 3 in country flights in Spain= excess baggage costs times 3).
2) I Googled "Destination Weddings" and didn't find anything useful other than gown and tux vendors arranging their own Int'l shipping for their purchased items only.
3) Unless I get good advice here, I will rely on my son posting something to the Sintra wedding venue, which exclusively (almost does Destination Weddings."
One thought is to rent a tux so that you don't have to bring one from the US. Can you call FedEx to see what the shipping charges would be for having a gown (and tux) shipped to Sinatra and then back from Portugal?
I'm not clear on whether the wedding comes at the beginning of the trip, the end, or somewhere in the middle, but I suggest contacting your Lisbon hotel(s) and asking about storing the wedding garments (suitably packed) before and/or after the wedding. Alternatively, I'd look into luggage storage facilities in Lisbon. The clothing would still need to accompany you as checked or carry-on baggage on your flights, but you wouldn't need to worry about it while you're traveling around.
The "store at hotel" idea sounds good until I get hammered with 2 extra luggage items JFK-LIS rt $90 (2nd bag fee) x4. $360 is a "Bridge Too Far." In the meantime my son (groom) said I can pack my Tux with his when he sends it ahead. So, now I "only" have to worry about shipping it from Sintra to home after the wedding. As my son and wedding party rented tuxes, they are being shipped back to the Rental store. I can't that. I bought a tux. (I figure at 68 I 'll get at least 2 uses out of it, my son's wedding, and my funeral !
