Hello: I miscalculated my number of days in Portugal, and it's actually 6 full days/5 nights. So, I have to eliminate the overnight stay at Regua. For the Duoro Valley trip, I plan to do in one day from Porto on my own. I don't drink wine and don't want to spend time on winetasting, which is included in most cruises:
- Train from Porto to Regua, then Pinhao
- Take 2-hour Rabelo boat (I heard that the most scenic part is upstream from Pinhao)
- Back to Regua via train
- Side trip to Lamego to see Santuário de Nossa Senhora dos Remédios
- Back to Regua and take train home
Is this logistically possible? What are the risks (such as infrequent trains/buses, unmatched connections of different transit modes, ...etc.) ? Another reason for this day trip is that I want to do it on a weekend and all the hotels I want to stay at are full.
