We will be staying near Amarante and would like to make a day trip to Porto. We will have a rental car but there is no way we’re going to drive into downtown Porto. Looking at the CP website it appears we can take an urban train to the Sao Bento station from the Vila Mea station which is about 17 km from Amarante. Another option would be to drive to the Fanzeres station in the eastern suburbs of Porto, about 57 Km from Amarante and take transit to downtown. Has anyone tried something similar? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.
