Day trip from Lisbon to Sintra - book a train or not

Hi,

I am going to lisbon in two weeks and planning a day trip to Sintra and booked tickets for Peña Palace and Quinta Da Regaleira. According to previous recommendation, I am planning to take a Bolt or Uber from Lisbon and come back via train.
Do you recommend booking a train in advance? If so, which app or website did you use and when is a good time to get back to Lisbon after seeing the two landmarks and grabbing a lunch?

Thanks!

It's a commuter train, can't buy tickets online.
You'll have to buy the Navegante Ocasional card and either load a ticket or money into the card, it's done in person at the ticket booth.

By doing outbound to Sintra via Uber/Bolt, you certainly save valuable time and energy.

Grounds tix at Sintra actually includes visit to almost all terraces and do not need to pick a fixed time slot and stand in long lines.

That way you can visit Monserrate castle and grounds too or if you think Pena plus Regaleria is enough then you can Bolt over to Cascais and take train back from there after spending time there. (More scenic train back compared to one from Sintra)
