Took the bus to Evora earlier this month. Flixbus goes next to the Oriente train station in Lisbon at 10:30 to get in at Noon. Two buses back at 17:00 and 18:30 makes it easy day trip by bus, and can be visited well in the day. Can book on Trainline or Flixbus apps/ website. Very nice bus journey as crosses bridge over bay.
Allow time to get out to Oriente station. Make sure to visit the Parque de Nacoes before going back to downtown Lisbon - many restaurant options and see the modern side of Lisbon
Hi from Wisconsin,
An overnight at Evora is worth it. Even if it means leaving a rental in Lisbon unoccupied for a night. Evora is quite nice. A very old university. There is a restaurant, the Botequim da Mouraria, that will be the high light of your entire trip. You should show up half an hour before the place opens. I am not one to stand in line. I did, and it was worth it. But you should get there before the line starts. There are TEN seats inside, OK the night I was there they slid us all together and made room for an eleventh. Read the reviews.
Disclaimer: you have to sit on bar stools at the bar. Sharing of meals is not discouraged. Sharing of bottles of wine happens too. If you don't like meeting strangers don't go. It turns out to be a meal and entertainment. The wife cooks, the husnand entertains and serves the meals. the food is fresh, what he could buy that day.

Mike,
Why not take the train? That is what we are doing.
