My husband and I will be in Lisbon March 4-March 8. We are arriving the afternoon of Monday March 4. I had definitely planned a day trip to Sintra at least one of those days then had planned to stay in and explore Lisbon the rest of the time. However, I just realized that Mardi Gras is Tuesday March 5! I’ve done some initial research and I keep seeing that Sesimbra and Torres Vedras are both within an hour by bus and both have Mardi Gras parades/celebrations. Sesimbra looks to be more Brazilian/Carnival while Torres Vedras is more traditional. Does anyone have a sense of whether or not taking a day to travel to one of those cities would even be worth it, and if so, which one would be better? Just factoring in that we are already taking a day trip to Sintra (probably on that Thursday) so wondering if doing another day trip will eat in to our already short time in Lisbon. But then again - would it be interesting to see a cultural celebration we wouldn’t see otherwise? Thanks in advance for the help!!
