Hello. I've looked at the various train schedules on the cp.pt website & was wondering what the symbols (P) & (C) mean? They are listed next to the City names usually 1st listed on the top of the schedule & on the last. I've read the key & understand the Remarks symbols, but these are not explained. Any insights are appreciated. Thanks!
Hi
P is for Partida which means departure.
C is for Chegada which means arrival.
These words have other meanings depending on how they are used in a phrase ( ex: partida can also mean something that is broken, female).
Other letter codes on CP:
U - Urbano, urban / commuter train
IC - Intercidades, intercity train
AP - Alfa Pendular, the brand name for their bullet train
R - Regional train
IR - InterRegional train
Happy travels
Thank you, aulopone! I had a feeling that they meant something along those lines. Just wanted to make sure I was on the "right track" - pun intended! LOL!
The always helpful www.Seat61.com has additional useful information about the Portuguese trains, including this line if you happen to be traveling from Lisbon to Porto:

Thank you CWSocial! I have bookmarked the link you provided & it has great information. I just read your 3-week Trip Report & it sounds like you had a great time. Thanks for the wonderful tips! I'm jotting them down as I plan.
I just watched one of Rick's videos & now I'm intrigued about Nazare. I feel like a kid in a candy shop w/ all of these great choices, but not enough time to see it all! Good dilemma to have! My husband & I will just have to save some cities for the next visit.
071727lanciault, I agree, great problem to have. I'm glad to hear my trip report might help with your planning. Enjoy!
