Coimbra University library on Heart of Portugal tour

Trying to confirm whether visiting Coimbra University library is included in the Rick Steve's Heart of Portugal tour or not.
It seems to be but we were warned about need to obtain timed tickets ahead and did not want to miss out because we misinterpreted information. Heading for tour next week.

Also noted that some of the recommended museums in Lisbon are closed for renovations: If anyone can confirm which are or not, that would be helpful. Thanks.

I took this tour in March. Yes, we went inside the Coimbra University Library as a group.

I don’t remember which museums were closed since I had no trouble filling my time without them! I suggest you check the individual museum websites for the most up-to-date information.

Be sure to follow the no photos policy. When I visited a few years back, a tourist from the UK took out his phone and the library guide confiscated it. Fortunately for him, the guide gave it back as we walked out the exit door.

Hi Chris:

We're taking this tour in Mid-June & yes, lots of the main sites seem to be closed. Very disappointing! I've been trying to put together a list for us of things to do in our free time & also to see if the Lisboa Card, with free entrance to many sites, would be a good value for us. We will be in Lisbon 3 days before the tour starts.

As far as I can tell, the following sites are closed:
Gulbenkian Museum
Museum of Ancient Art
Fado Museum
National Tile Museum
Belem Tower (may open in June)
Santa Justa Elevator (I think) & 3 of the funiculars

Have a great trip!
Tina

If you are talking about the Joanina Library, yes, timed tickets are required (but I cannot speak to whether they are included on your RS tour). Please know photography is NOT allowed inside the Joanina Library proper (although they are allowed in the chapel adjoining and other parts of the University. I just don't want you disappointed in the moment.
