Choosing hotel in Lisbon

I’ve narrowed down to 4 choices for hotel in Lisbon.

All within our price range although the Avenida Palace is a bit higher than I’d like to pay. Willing to stretch if worth it.
They all have similar amenities and meet our needs. They all get excellent reviews on booking .com, TA

Can anyone offer some feedback? Have you stayed at any of these hotels? Pros/cons?
Which is the better location? We will be arriving from Sintra via train and leaving via cab to airport to pick up rental car
This will be for 4 nights in May 2020

Other recommendations?

Hotel Mundial-least expensive

No comments on the hotels, but consider taking Uber from Sintra. It's a schlep to get from the historic center to the train and then you still have to go down several levels from the train to the taxis and Oriente is not user-friendly.

I took Uber from Sintra to Oriente Station on a weekday morning, left about 8.30-9.00 so I missed most of the morning rush hour traffic into Lisbon, cost a little over €30.

I rented a car at Oriente - it was a little cheaper than at the airport. It wasn't difficult to drive out of the city.

I flew out of Lisbon, my hotel arranged a car service to the airport. It was cheaper than a taxi and possibly cheaper than Uber because it was a flat rate in rush hour.

I’ve not stayed in any of the hotels you are considering but can give my opinion as to location. The first two (and possibly the most expensive one) have the best locations. The third is too far out of the downtown area, IMO. The first is in the Montim Moniz area. It’s close to Rossio and at the end of Tram 28. The praça at Montim Moniz is a party area so it’s possibly noisier at night.
The second is likely the best location, IMO. But, any of the first three are in good locations. Go with your favorite of these and I think you will be pleased.

Thank you both- very helpful!

Chani-
I thought the train from Sintra arrived at Rossio?
I haven't got that far in my planning/research but will keep your advice in mind. As for picking up car at Oriente- I'll price that out, we need an automatic though so it's usually safer to rent from airport so we get that car.
Haven't quite finalized itinerary- but we will be leaving Lisbon on either a Sunday or a Monday- which day do you think would be easier/better traffic wise for getting out of the city?

kathrynj-
Thank you again- really helpful to have a local's input! I felt the same about Hotel Lisboa Plaza- it is mentioned a few times here on forum and I think RS tours use it, which is why I took a look. The Portugal Boutique looks to me like it backs up to the Hotel Mundial. I have booked it- it was actually my favorite of all 4!

ETA- Oriente Europcar is not open Sat/Sun so we'd have to leave on Monday if we pick up there. Price I am getting (autoeurope) is same as from LIS

I’m going to respectfully disagree with Chani. I would never choose to pick up a rental car at Oriente! It’s in the middle of the city and I would never drive in Lisbon! The airport is a much better choice, IMO, because you can get on the highways quickly from there. But, even better is in a small town outside of Lisbon altogether...

Yes- that would be our preference but I priced pick up for an automatic in Evora and it was 3 times as much for a shorter rental period!

Getting out of Lisbon from the Airport (or Oriente) is very easy, you are very close to the highway to the North and the Vasco de Gama Bridge to the East and South. Driving on those is quite straightforward, I would not worry.

I could be wrong (believe it or not, it has happened :-) but my recollection is that some trains from Sintra go to Rossio and all trains go to Oriente, which is the main station.

As I said, Uber would be about the same price to Oriente or the airport. You should definitely go to the airport because of your desire for an automatic car.

Kathryn, indeed the one time I had to drive into Lisbon's center was a miserable experience, but it was fast and easy to drive out of the city from Oriente around 11.00 am on a weekday.

I’ve stayed at the Hotel Lisboa Plaza. Before our stay I worried it was too far from the center, but I didn’t feel that way at all while we were there. We were able to easily go to many destinations and enjoyed staying some place quiet. The rooms were very nice and the breakfast was fantastic. Service was extremely friendly. I would recommend it.

There are trains from Sintra that go to Rossio and other trains from Sintra that go to Oriente but not to Rossio. I discovered this when I got on the wrong train and had to change at an intermediate stop to get to Rossio.
