Change to Portugal Itinerary. Is this better?

Okay, I listened and changed up a bunch of stuff. Let me know if this is more logical and some side trips that would work please.

Arrive June 8th and take a bus to Lagos. Stay there until the 11th, rent a car to go to Cape and Sagres and any other places suggested. Then leave the 11th to Evora and stay until the 16th so 5 nights. With a side trip to Monsaraz and any other suggested place. Then travel to Batalha and Alcobaca and stay the night in Obidos on 16th. 17th tour Obidos then travel to Lisbon, turn in car, and stay 6 nights and travel to Sintra and any other suggested spots. Then fly out to Madrid on the 17th.

Suggestions for places to visit are greatly appreciated and if this is a better itinerary.

Do you have your dates right? Arrive in Lisbon on the 17th and leave for Madrid same day? Personally, as much as I love Evora, I would spend a maximum of 2 nights and then head to Porto.

Much better itinerary in my opinion.

Between Lagos and Sagres is a small village: "Vila do Bispo". I like to have lunch there, at "A Tasca do Careca", near the post office.

Near Évora (more or less 60 kms) I suggest "Vila Viçosa", that was the vacation place for portuguese Royalty.

I second the Evora suggestion- it's a lovely town, but 5 nights is probably at least 2 too many. Depending on your interest, I would suggest Almendres Cromlech, the 'Stonehenge of Portugal', while you're in Evora. A bit off the beaten track, especially if you don't have a car, but worth the visit.
I also second the amazing Porto- easily one of the favorite cities I've ever been!

If you do go to Vila Vicosa, try to see the Palace, but check first when the tours are. You have to be on a tour to see, and last year there was only 1 English tour a day at 1100. We took the Portugese tour, but would have liked to hear in English. It is well worth seeing.

Hi,
We are just back from Lisbon, Evora, and Obidos. We spent 6 nights in both Evora and Obidos.

I would say four days in Evora would be good enough. We really enjoyed our time there and had a great house through airbnb. But a couple day trips out of Evora...one-half day to megalithic stones, and the perhistoric paintings in a cave 7 miles east of Evora. Monsaraz is nice, takes more time driving there than it takes to tour. A day to Elvas, and Estremoz, for walled cities. A day in Evora.
An evening meal at the #1 restaurant (Botequim do Mauraria) in Evora, costs about $60 for two ($30 each). But we had everything. It is really dinner and a show. the place opens at 7PM get there by 6:30 and stand out side the door facing the street. Only seats 9, and squeezes in a 10th. It is the experience you are getting. The food is good too.

Obidos is a really nice walled town. (4 days?) Nice place to stay through booking.com. inside the walls. Day trips to Nazare. Another to Fatima (?), another to Alcobaca, and Batalha (monasteries). Don't pass up meals evening meals at Muralhas, just outside the city walls. Very nice meals, a bit unique as it is not tipico Portuguese treatment. A day in Obidos, and walk the walls toward evening.

Lisbon...skip restaurant O'Eurico. It gets high ratings on tripadvisor, but is not really worth it. Can't get enough of this city. Ride the trams 28, 12, and 15. They take you around the castle or out to Belem (15). A mass transit pass is available for Lisbon, Via Viagem. The card costs 1/2 Euro, then you charge it up, one card per person, and end up saving about 40% per trip.
