Caves! Grutas de Mira de Aire or Grutas da Moeda?

Hi, we will be staying in Sao Martinho do Porto in early October and I have just heard about two of the cave systems to the east and north of there. One is the Grutas de Mira de Aire in Porto de Mos and Grutas da Moeda outside of Fatima. I am wondering about visiting one of them in a day trip that will eventually take us to Tomar. I am also wondering about if it would be feasible to squeeze in a visit to Batalha during this same jaunt.
Has anyone been to either of these caves and if you were to visit only one of them, which would you choose?
I think there are other cave systems in the same general area but I have not studied up on them.
Thank you for any ideas or thoughts on all of this.

I have visited Grutas da Moeda twice and would definitey recommend it. The tour is always led by a guide, so to save time I would look over the website to see which tour fits your schedule and you don't have to sit outside wasting time. I have not visited Grutas de Mira de Aire. Batalha is close by, and can be done even for a quick visit of 1/2 hour. You will love visiting the Grutas!

Thanks for this, Carl. I can't wait to visit these caves. I'm glad to hear that Batalha can perhaps be a quick visit because I really want to save time for the Caves and Tomar.

So, we got one vote for the Grutas da Moeda. Has anyone else been to the Grutas de Mira de Aire or any other caves in the general area?
