Car Rental Pick Up Porto, Drop Off Lisbon

We will be flying into Porto (after doing Ricks Spain tour) and after visiting Porto, will want to pick up a rental car. We then will want to drop off the rental car when we get to Lisbon a few days later. Following Rick's suggestion, we don't want to drive in either town. Rick's book suggests that the Lisbon Airport is a good place to drop off the car, then take the Metro into town. Maybe when we leave Porto, take the Metro out to the airport to pick up a rental car? I am also fine just using a Metro station on the outskirts of both towns to pickup/drop off.

Any suggestions? Thanks !!

We used Lisbon and Porto airports for rental car pick up and drop off. Easy. Took taxis to airports.

We too used the airports, very easy. Cabs or Uber were very cheap, almost cheaper than public transport for two. I think in Lisbon we paid about 10 euro to get into central Lisbon from the airport.

We picked up a car at Porto Campanhã train station which is about 10 minutes away from São Bento station and dropped it off at Cascais by the train station. Our rental was from Europcar.
