We are traveling to Portugal in October and we were planning on renting a car for half the time, but the more I think about it, it might be nice not to rent a car if possible.
Here is the itinerary as it stands currently:
Fly in Lisbon - spend 3 nights there;
- Take train to Sintra for 2 nights;
-----Tour Sintra and then take trip to Obidos and possibly Cascais;
- Take train back to Lisbon and pick up car at Lisbon train station - ( Zest car rental at Oriente Railway Station);
- Drive to Evora for 2 nights;
- Proceed to Castelo Branco for 1 night - visit a couple of Historic Villages ( Monsanto and Belmonte);
- Continue north by car to Porto for 2 nights;
- Return to Lisbon for 1 night and return car;
- Depart Lisbon next day for Home.
I'm was thinking that it might be hard to get to the villages and some destinations outside of Evora without a car, but maybe it would be ok without a car? Thanks for any advice.
