We're headed to Portugal for 9 days in March 2018 flying in and out of Porto. Other than in Porto and Lisbon, we would like to use a rental car to explore the country. For our itinerary it would work best if we can rent a car in Lisbon and return it in Porto as we leave. We will only be driving the car within Portugal. Will this be a problem or cost significantly more? Thanks in advance for your input.
No, as long as you pick it up and return it in Portugal, there won’t be an extra fee.
We did this exact same thing about a month ago. Used Sixt car rental (and they had pickups/dropoffs within each city, which made it way easier than doing it at airport). Had no issues. Make sure to get the tollway transponder (allows you to cruise right through toll booths)

Tollway is a must driving to Faro as tolls are all electronic - and expensive - more so if you don't get the transponder and pay a big later to car rental company. But the toll road is easy uncrowded driving, especially I'm March
