I am looking to hire a car in Portugal for a couple weeks in March picking up in Lisbon and drop off in Porto and wondered if anyone has any good recommendations for hire Companies that accepts Visa Debit Cards. I have checked so many rental companies and it's overwhelming the amount of conflicting information, makes it hard to have any clarity. I also checked Discover Cars as they have a filter to select Debit Card bookings but I'm concerned about Discover Cars after reading reviews of people left out of pocket with no car/booking when they went to pick up. but one thing I noticed is the repeating advice to 'check with the location'. In your case it looks like both locations would have to be agreeable.
Does not seem to be any quick easy way to get THE answer. Some companies do, but not necessarily all their locations. ( corporate vs franchise)
Hopefully someone can be more helpful, but I suspect most people use a charge card to pay for a rental car, so 1st hand experience may be limited.

For some things in life, you need a credit card. Seems like renting a car is one of them.
