We will be travelling from the Lisbon airport to Evora. Would it be better to rent a car at the airport or take the train to Evora and pick up a car there for 2 days? Will it be a problem leaving the airport and travelling out of the city at 10 in the morning?

It certainly would be easier to get the car at the Lisbon airport than have the hassle of getting on and off a train with luggage, finding the rental car place, etc.

It’s only a 1.5 hours drive, so I can’t believe you’d save much time taking the train when considering what Suki mentioned. The airport is on the northeast edge of the city. From it, get on the A12 and take it to the A2 (toll roads). That would be the quickest. To avoid most of the tolls take the N4, or the N10 to the N4. It would take a little longer to get to Evora, but you’d see something more than interstates.

Any suggestions for a solid rental company at LIS; have read good reviews on Amoita but most do seem dismal or crooked operators.
