Anyone have rental company they’d recommend? Picking up in Porto and dropping off in Lisbon

We rented from Hertz, but picked up in Lisbon. It all was easy. There are also 3rd party consolidator companies (like AutoEurope and DiscoverCars) that will analyze and list several different companies by price, although not every rental company is necessarily included by them, and we usually go directly with the rental company.

It is a broker/consolidator most of us in this forum use. They work with the major rental companies. Check what they have available for your dates of travel.

Avoid Alamo / Enterprise. We picked up a car at CDG, dropped off in Strasbourg. They charged us for a missing luggage cover that was never there in the first place. They didn't go over the car with us, just vaguely pointed us in the direction and said flash the lights with the key fob until you find it. Absurd. (Claim 78622451)

I also had THE Worst experience with Hertz when returned to Lisbon. Ending up paying double of initial quote and the people there were probably the most disinterested and unpleasant folks … may have been a fluke but just sayin..,,

We used Zest car rentals twice on our trip, for Porto and Lagos. They're a broker, and users can post reviews on their experiences with the different agencies. Both rentals were easy, with no hidden fees. Porto was with Thrifty, and Lagos was with MasterKings (MK was great).

Following this thread as I will be renting a car in Lisbon at end of April 2025 and likely returning in Porto. I've heard some horror stories about car rentals via a FB group on Portugal. Will check out Zest. Does anyone know if it's possible to book via Costco travel for Portugal?
