Lisbon to Obidos by bus takes just one hour and there are buses departing hourly from Lisbon most of the day and buses every fifteen minutes during rush hours. You buy the bus tickets directly from the bus driver. Obidos can be easily seen in a couple hours. The bus drops passengers outside the medieval walls of the town. Allow 20 minutes to walk uphill to the center and downhill to return to the bus stop. The Campo Grande Bus “Station” from where buses depart from in Lisbon is not really a bus station at all, but simply a number of bus benches with rain covers surrounding the Campo Grande Metro Station. You need to locate the bench for the “ Rapida Verde “ bus route. It’s just east of the Campo Grande Metro Station
on the road called “Rua Actor Antonio Silva.”

All in all, plan on a couple hours at Obidos and two hours of transit. Ask the driver what time the buses returning to Lisbon will depart from Obidos ( schedules sometimes vary from the published schedules) and then you won’t have to wait around for an hour because you just missed the previous bus.

The Rodotejo buses are the only buses I’m aware of doing the Lisbon-Obidos route, Be sure to take a look inside the Pousada Castella de Obidos, the Castle of Obidos. which has origins going back to the 9th century.

Kenko,
I'm going this weekend so there are less buses. Do you think leaving lisbon at 2:30 (so i should arrive at 3:30 PM) and then coming back at 6:15 PM will be enough time. It should be 2 hours and 45 minutes in obidos. Please let me know!

Kenko,

We will stay overnight in Obidos. Does the bus have a luggage compartment in the botton of the bus?

Thanks
