Breakfast buffet in Lisbon?

Is hotel breakfast buffet a thing in Lisbon or worth it? Somewhat of an odd question but hear me out. :)

Husband and I will be going to Lisbon in October and we were thinking it could be a nice treat to ourselves to go for a breakfast buffet at a hotel or some other place. Are there options worth considering?

We rarely splurge but on very rare occasions we like to slow down a little bit and just enjoy time. I recall when we visited Hong Kong, the hotel I stayed in for my work conference had the most luxurious breakfast buffet I had ever seen. Lots of dim sum, noodle dishes, porridge, a section for other Chinese style breakfast and then a huge section of western style breakfast. We loved it.

I guess it depends on the hotel. We stayed at the hotel Lisboa and had their breakfast buffet, it was fine nothing more.

Probably not to the extent you are thinking, where non-guests go there for breakfast, and it is sort of a luxury spread. Breakfast itself is not much of an affair in most of Europe, Hotels serve it as a service to guests, many can be good, but not worth the effort to go there and pay what is typically a hefty price if not included in the room price.

If you are still interested, I would look into the higher end hotels that are part of a chain with lots of business clientele.

Most hotels offer a breakfast for guests. With some it’s more continental style with bread of some type and juices, coffee, etc. Many offer a buffet that has cooked foods, lunch meats, cheeses, yogurts, cereals, breads, fruit, juices, coffee, etc. Buffets can vary greatly between hotels with regard to the cooked foods, and variety of meats and cheeses. The better hotels will generally have a better buffet and it will cost more (20-22€). More budget friendly hotels will have less of a selection and the breakfast will either be included with the room price or for a nominal amount (9-13€). When selecting a hotel we’ll look for breakfast photos to see if it’s worth it.

Thank you all for your replies. @Paul, yes you're right that I am thinking of the kind of luxury breakfast buffet where non-clients of a hotel go to. Interestingly, where I grew up in Africa, luxury breakfast buffets were offered by the few European hotels that dotted the capital, such as Novotel, Golden Tulip, and a few local hotels like Labadi (I think that one is government owned). European expats went to enjoy those breakfasts too from time to time.
